The Ultralight Laziar SS EC
The Ultralight Laziar SS EC is a unique plane that was used for a period of time as a police plane and was used by the officers at Montgomery Park City. It was designed by Dale Kramer and, Peter Corley helped build it. The Laziar was designed and built in Canada 1978. Nobody expected the Laziar to sell, but it is now produced in an Ultralight factory and sells about 12,000 a year. This model has a single seat with an inverted Veetail and high wings. It is made out of light weight aluminum sheets and tubing. It possesses extreme reliability and stick and rudder flight control, which is preferred over the weight shift controls. The police started flying it in 1987 and it was used for many missions, most notably used for surveillance in the Olympic Nationals Field Hockey games at Montgomery Park Stadium. The police had to stop flying it in 1989 from a loss of insurance. They donated the plane to the Smithsonian.
