B-2 STEALTH BOMBER
The B-2 Spirit is a stealth bomber. The B-2 was first shown to the public on November 22, 1988. It was shown at Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California. The idea of the B-2 Bomber was first made in the mind of Jack Northrop. It first flew on July 17, 1989. The U.S. Air Force flies it, there are two pilots in it at a time.
The B-2 flies through the air without being seen. The material it is made out of absorbs the radar signals so that the enemy cannot see them. With its four hidden engines it flies fast and stays stealthy. Its wingspan is 172 feet and its weight is 160,000 pounds. The B-2 Spirits height is 17 feet and its length is 69 feet.
The first B-2 Spirit that crashed, crashed in Guam. The humidity had built up on the B-2's sensors causing the plane to crash. Sadly, President Bill Clinton ended the B-2 Spirit program in 1997. Now 21 planes are still in various places in the United States. The B-2 was an amazing bomber that got the job done.
